Hello, Alumni!

My name is Michelle Chevalier, the new director of the Graduate Business Career Center at the Carlson School. I joined the school last November, and have enjoyed engaging in all aspects of the Carlson School community. Prior to moving to the Twin Cities and joining the Carlson School, I spent several years with the career center at the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis. I held a variety of roles in employer relations, career advising, and business development. Prior to that, I was a vice president for Brand Management Executive Recruiting at the O’Connell Group executive search, a management consultant with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, a sales representative for General Mills, and a marketing intern for Nestle Purina. The blend of career center experience, combined with a professional background in recruiting, consulting, and marketing has been very helpful as I’ve transitioned into my new role at the Carlson School.

Over the past few months, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting several of you and have enjoyed learning about your experiences as alumni. Your opinions and ideas are invaluable to me as I get to know the Carlson School alumni community and the many corporate partners of the school. I believe that alumni are one of my organization’s most important allies in the process of preparing our students for career success after graduate school. Your insights and experiences not only help our students explore the various professional options available to them, but also provide a direct link to the corporate and non-profit communities. I have many ideas for connecting you directly with our students as mentors, panelists, mock interviewers, speakers, and coaches. In addition, as we look to expand our recruiting footprint, I’ll be meeting with as many of our local alumni as I can and traveling to key markets to meet those of you who don’t reside in the Twin Cities. You’ll see much more about all of this in the coming months.

In the meantime, I welcome your ideas and suggestions, and look forward to getting to know each of you as we build stronger career programs for our students and better connections to you, our alumni.
